Our 25th Year - 2011

Twenty-four years ago a small group of businessmen, in this immediate area, formed what was then named the "Charlevoix County Sailors". Their desire was to teach children to sail during the summer on our Lake Charlevoix. At that time their task was how, where and with whom. The "Why" was very certain, which is the same as it is today.

The Lake Charlevoix Mariners is the fund-raising and direction group supplying boats, equipment, dockage, on shore facilities, and Instructors for the Charlevoix County 4-H Youth Sailing Program.

The LCM is a 501(c)(3) organization, dedicated to supporting the development of sailing for children in Charlevoix County.

Our Goal: "To offer students of all levels, a learn-to-sail, learn-to-race, with an on-the-water and classroom approach, providing a safe, informative, and hands-on experience for all the children involved."

Michigan State University Extension Charlevoix County 4-H: We are in partnership with the Michigan State University Charlevoix County 4-H Youth Programs, located in Boyne City.
